Late Morning Monarch
I did say that I would post again if I got a lucky photo opportunity, though its not the best shot I could have taken. I rarely have an opportunity to get this close to creatures this aloof. I did crop the image so the quality of detail in this piece isn't what I would hope it to be, and I did a couple color corrections but nothing too drastic. Taken in front of Landmark Vineyards at Hop Kiln Estate at 10:20am today. It was a gorgeous drive just to get there since it was pretty out of the way compared to a lot of other wineries in The Russian River Appelation.

Entrance to The Crocker
I doubt most people would bother to wonder, but I'll throw it out there. I had absolutely no time what-so-ever to post a new photo for June since I've spent most of my birth month on getting a new job, finding a place to move to, give my 3 weeks notice, and finally training all of my replacements. For a better explanation, go to my most recent journal as of July 3, 2017. It's not that it slipped my mind; quite the contrary since my new job is in gorgeous California Wine Country. Alas, because of the many interviews, and constant traveling for those interviews, I was unable to continue the trend. So back to the photobox.

I was finally able to take a breather as of the day of this photo and visit the Crocker Art Museum to check out their Hi Fructose Art Exhibit. It was something spectacular and is only around until early September, so if you happen to be in Sacramento, give it a viewing. This is the front gate and entrance to the gallery, and the lighting was solid enough to get some really good contrast going. Not the most exciting work I've done, but it does hold a little bit of mystery to it if you've never been to the museum itself.

Taken at 11:30am. No filters, lighting adjustments or cropping was done to this piece.

Been a while hasn't it? As most of you who will be reading this are no doubt asking yourself, "Who the fuck is this dude, and when did I even follow him?", I have a helpful reminder. I'm the guy who occasionally uploads some decent pony art for people who pay me, and uploads a random artsy photo every other month. Aside from that I'm just a grown-ass man trying to pursue a life of accomplishment in an industry with more bullshit in it than New York's Contemporary Art Scene.
I'm talking about Wine, and beginning again in September, I will be taking a long awaited trip to Oregon for a temporary position as a Winery Cellar Worker. As one can imagine, it will be the type of job where you wont see or hear much of me while the job is in full swing. Suffice to say, I will not be accepting any commissions until next year while I get my shit together. In fact starting next month, you may not hear much of me at all in terms of artwork being uploaded. Who knows.
You will see something out of me here and there, but I can't guarantee it, and my plans to work on some independent are all but frozen in the time that I had last announced them. So no Impression,Celestia Redo, no small color sketches, who the fuck knows what else I had planned out that I'll be postponing. Don't get the wrong idea, if you are a long time follower of my account you can expect something from me in the not to distant future, assuming that doesn't go to shit.

In the mean time, I have come across a subject that felt like an antithesis of what my life of fandom's past. I was told about a little something called 'mlpol' that got me a little discouraged and knowing what I know about the community that was I am curious to know what some might feel about it. I certainly don't know enough about it to have a fully informed opinion about it, but from my distant experience with the brony fandom that I have long since left, but held in higher regard than most would, it made me... almost... nihilistically off-put. Feel free to leave a comment below in regards to this, maybe even throw out your side of the story in terms of what happened.
  • Listening to: Nu Disco, Electro Pop, VG Remixes
  • Reading: Shadows in the Vineyard, How to Taste

  • Drinking: Wine, Cocktails and the occasional Shrub
OC Commission: Ravebounce
My latest commission from my latest patron. I've been on a psychedelic art kick lately and have been taking a little too much time exploiting my knowledge of Linear Perspective. In traditional art it's a little more difficult in practice. Bought a whole new slew of Fluorescent Copic Markers for this project and I think the results speak for themselves.

It was a project that I had been trying to knock out for a while but was put off by an insane work schedule as of last month. Fortunately, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and the necessary hiatus from the project gave me time to think of a few new directions to approach it with. It made me feel a little nostalgic to be sketching a pivotal piece of my early teen years. I even went back and listened to 3 versions of DIVE while working on it. As all of my projects, It's always a challenge; especially when it's an OC that I've never worked on. It was like getting to know a new person, and kinda trying to get a read on the moment. It was a welcome challenge for me and I would love to try new things with this OC if ever a commission opportunity ever arises again.

Materials used: Copic Sketch markers, Copic Multiliner pens, Deco Art paint (Pearl), Phosphorescent paint, and a seperate sheet of Bristol Board as a True Perspective Extension.

Foreboding 1800's Staircase
i just realized that i also missed March's photo upload as well. I walk by this scene everyday I head to work, and have always wanted to capture a photo of it. I guess playing catchup helps a lot. It exists in a really strange space too. and I wish that there was a way of taking vertical panoramas. Below the staircase is an overgrown courtyard below street level that is fenced off.
